Guided Biofilm Technology

A gentle clean for sensitive teeth and gums: Revolutionary new airflow technology

When it comes to your teeth, preventative care is always better than repair. That’s why it’s vital to make a six-monthly dental appointment. However, if you have sensitive teeth and gums, your hygiene appointments may cause you discomfort – leaving you dreading your next visit.

A state-of-the-art airflow technology, Guided Biofilm Therapy, has arrived at Inverloch Family Dental, making uncomfortable cleans a thing of the past.

The importance of regular hygiene appointments

So, what is biofilm – and why do we need to have regular dental visits to remove it from our teeth?

Biofilm (also referred to as plaque and tartar) is a sticky film made up of bacteria that coats our teeth. The bacteria feed off the food and drink that we put in our mouths, which can cause us health problems if the plaque isn’t removed – including cavities, gum disease and even tooth loss.

Biofilm is insidious. However, Guided Biofilm Therapy identifies and removes up to 100% of biofilm.

A gentler way to remove biofilm

Our airflow machine uses a combination of fine powder, air and soothing warm water to comfortably remove biofilm – including stains. It is especially efficient at removing coffee, tea and tobacco stains.

The Airflow is expertly designed to remove soft-to-medium biofilm, therefore the use of an ultrasonic scaler is minimised. This means compared to traditional cleaning devices, there is much less contact with the instrument and your teeth.

Minimal vibration. A quieter clean. No cold sensitivity. Only the gentle contact of warm water and air on your teeth. The experience is pleasant, comfortable and quiet.

Who is suited to an airflow dental clean?

Anyone and everyone can have their teeth cleaned with this technology. It will be especially welcomed by patients with sensitive teeth and gums, very stained teeth, or those sensitive to noise.

If you’ve been dreading your next dental clean and find you’ve been putting it off – you will be pleasantly surprised by the airflow clean technology at Inverloch Family Dental. Clients who have experienced the Airflow enjoy the gentle and thorough clean – some say it is like going to a dental spa!
