Dr Tonya Kirk BDS

Tonya qualified with a BDS from Dundee University in Scotland in 1991.

She spent two years training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and then worked in a general dental practice in Cornwall, England.

In 1995 Tonya moved to Australia to pursue as exciting job as a public dental officer in Katherine NT, which included visiting Aboriginal communities.

During this time she met her husband, John, who is a doctor at the Wonthaggi Medical Group. In 1997 she moved to the Bass Coast Area and has been practicing Dentistry in Leongatha and Inverloch ever since.

Tonya loves working with clients of all ages. She has particular interests in Paediatrics, Preventive dentistry and minimally invasive dentistry. She also loves seeing patients with special needs.

Volunteering her skills is something that is especially important to Tonya. As a student she did elective studies in Nepal and India, and more recently has volunteered in Cambodia. She is especially excited to be returning to Nepal later this year to join a team delivering medical and dental care to remote communities still recovering from the 2015 earthquake.

The local community is very important to Tonya. She has raised three beautiful children here and has been very involved with the Wonthaggi Theatrical Group, Bass Coast Ballet School and various Music groups.
